About IMRelief
Built to Serve. Designed for Impact.
nternational Mission for Relief (IMRelief) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit humanitarian aid organization headquartered in Washington, DC. We were founded in 2023 on a single conviction: that every human being — regardless of where they were born, what they believe, or what war or disaster has taken from them — deserves the fundamental right to food, clean water, and shelter.
In just a few years, IMRelief has grown from a start-up relief organization into an active humanitarian presence operating across 14 countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, as well as domestically in the United States. Our work spans emergency response, food security, clean water and WASH, child protection, and long-term resilience programs. And we do it all anchored in one unwavering belief: relief is not the end goal — resilience is.
Our Vision
A world where vulnerable communities are not defined by their crises — but empowered by their resilience. IMRelief strives to be recognized by donors, beneficiaries, and partners as the most effective driver of the vulnerable's transition from relief to resilience.
Our Mission
To deliver, sustain, and remove access barriers to the right to food, shelter, and clean water — for every person, in every community where we work.
About IMRelief
Preparation Over Reaction Emergencies are inevitable
but their devastation does not have to be. IMRelief builds local partner relationships, supply networks, and preparedness systems long before a crisis unfolds. When disaster strikes, we are already there — not catching up.
Local Solutions, Local Ownership
We believe relief should strengthen communities, not create dependency. IMRelief procures food, goods, and services locally wherever possible — supporting local economies and giving communities a genuine stake in their own recovery. Our relationship with beneficiaries is a partnership, not a handout.
Multiplier Gains Every dollar should work harder than one dollar.
We design targeted interventions that generate cascading benefits — economically, socially, and institutionally. From digital livelihood programs for educated but unemployed youth in Gaza, to solar-powered water wells in East Africa — we engineer for scale and longevity.
Why IMRelief
Speed
Our pre-positioned local partner networks enable response within hours, not weeks. In crises like Gaza, where windows for safe aid delivery are narrow and unpredictable, speed is not a preference — it is a life-or-death imperative.
Efficiency
As a lean, purpose-driven organization, we channel the maximum portion of every donation directly into programs. Smart systems, local hiring, and technology-driven monitoring and evaluation minimize overhead and maximize impact.
Accountability
We publish regular, unfiltered field updates from our country coordinators. We report honestly — including when situations are deteriorating. Our donors in the US, UK, and Canada deserve to know exactly where their money goes and what it achieves.
Integrity
IMRelief is governed by an independent Board of Directors and adheres to GAAP accounting standards and rigorous internal financial controls. Our finances are managed by certified professionals with deep nonprofit and international development experience.
Our Story
IMRelief was founded in 2023 by Mohamed Hussein — a finance professional with more than a decade of experience at the intersection of humanitarian work and institutional finance. Mohamed previously served as a COO in the relief sector, as Senior Financial Analyst at Freedom House, and as Controller at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi's US Federal branch. He built IMRelief with the belief that strong financial governance and humanitarian urgency are not in tension — they are inseparable.
Since our founding, we have grown rapidly — not by cutting corners, but by attracting a team of exceptional humanitarians, policy experts, field coordinators, and operational professionals who share a singular commitment: to serve those who need help most, as effectively as possible, for as long as it takes.
